tried everything posted but still have same problem
 

I have the same problem. LW was working fine on my laptop until few days ago and now I get that same message. I have done all the fixes posted and nothing has worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled LW and still get same message. I am on laptop with Motorola wireless card. We have desktop with roadrunner broadband with LW on it and works great on that pc. What possibly could have caused this to happen all of a sudden? Like I said was working fine until few days ago.:confused:

Is there anything that's changed on the computer? Have you installed any other programs or updates recently?

Which version of Java do you have?
What model of Motorolla device do you have?
What have you tried so far?

Yours might be a different model.

How many days ago exactly did your LW stop running?

Your LW preferences will be found in a new location after running LW 4.10 & having deleted them once. Try step 3 here : Point 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.)

You might also want to update your Java. Uninstall your Java using the Add/Remove Programs Control panel. Then install Java 1.5 using the "Offline" installer version. See point #1 in above link.

These firewall issues are normall either due to software firewall or modem/router firewall. So ... unless something else is playing up affecting communication between LW & devices & firewall, then the issue must be one of these 2 things. Something might have become corrupted along the way. It's hard to know.

Thanks for letting us know. Yes I was concerned a little about the Java because the newer versions of LW are designed using Java 1.5, so unless there's a special reason to use 1.4.2, I'd recommend the latest Java. Glad to hear you solved the problem. :) ;)
