I have Sonic DVD software and when I try to load an "avi" video file, the software wont support it. What is "avi" and is there a way to convert these video formats to mpg or mpeg, so that i can play them on my dvd player?

AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave. It is a special case
of the RIFF (Resource Interchange File Format). AVI is defined by
Microsoft. AVI is the most common format for audio/video data on the
PC. AVI is an example of a de facto (by fact) standard.

AVI can come in many different forms. Just as Quicktime video can be almost anything from mpeg 1-4 or divx, etc. Search the word avi or mpeg or converter using the Search button above. Put AND in between the search terms.
