Question Malicious Adware

I am a new user of limewire and after dloading it and running some spyware programs I discovered that there are 3 adware programs included in the original limewire program. I have requested info on them two times and have received no response. Might be a good idea if everyone checked their systems for this adware (Kaaza, and Savenow). I wonder if limewire knows of this problem or do they just make promises about no spyware, adware or trojan horses friviliously. The first dload I was infected with a worm which was in the software from lime wire too. This is my first experience with this program and thought I might like to go pro, however with these problems I dont know if I can continue to run it at all.
Note: I have removed the adware programs from my computer which dloaded with the limewire program and the program seems to still work ok. My spyware program still lists limewire as an adware program, however.
Hope this isnt a problem and hope it helps everyone. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who has dloaded the 4.10.9 and had adware infections from the limewire site.
Thanks
U1st

This issue has been discussed so, so so many times. (search the word pest* on the forum using the search button above.) Programs like PestPatrol & some others don't properly recognise that LW does not have spyware, etc. If it misidentifies LW, then I wonder how many other files your program(s) have misidentified. Going with the spyware forum's two top choices, we recommend using 1. ad-ware (FREE), & also Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

Are you aware that many spyware programs on the market don't work properly? Are you aware that some of those have spyware/adware themselves? And are you aware some are poor copies of other people's designs? And are you aware that in the same light as the previous point, that some that are free are repackaged by scam groups & sold to unsuspecting customers by using google sponsorship to push themselves into your face!?!

ie: be very careful about the spyware/adware programs you choose. Otherwise they can do damage to your system.

BTW the very 1st versions of LW did have adware but removed it roughly about 2-3 years ago.

If you wish to continue using the same spyware program you have, then put LW on the exception list. Your program will have one. If it doesn't then it's potentially dangerous. (I'd be curious to know which ones you have.)

Default spy ware use

Thanks for the update LOR. I am well aware of the many problems that many "useful" programs create. However, as a new user of LW you have to admit that when all of the programs I have used in the past 25 years havent given me this kind of message it gives me some reason for worry. I use 4 ad ware spy ware programs. I find that spybot search and destroy is not active enough to find problems, I do have it running though. I also use spyware blaster which is recommended by spybot as the next step in security. I use a program which is very active called webroot spy sweeper. This program catches everything, it isnt free and is a premium program. The last program I use is called spyware snooper, another premium program and it is not free. It will also catch things that spybot and spyware blaster will not even think about. So, sorry if I asked a question that has been discussed a million times before. Seems that LW would just put it as a warning on the web page to eliviate this issue altogether. Your comments still dont address the issue of the two ad ware programs within the software called "kazza and savenow." I just removed the infections from my machine and will use, but continue to watch LW for problems.
Thanks again.

Well savenow is everywhere there are many web pages that you may visit that download savenow onto your computer. Kazza is another P2P app which contains savenow spyware and perhaps you could explain why LimeWire would put Kazza spyware in LimeWire they are competitors. And by the way My computer does not contain either of them I search my registry manually on a regular basis and know they are not there. I upgrade with every new version of limeWire that comes out and have never gotten any spyware form it. You might find the link below interesting

1 or 2 of those programs you're using are on the spyware forum's list of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products. Here's a summary report about 2 of those programs from the Spyware forum:

1. Spyware Snooper - spywaresnooper.com
maximumsoftware.com - false positives work as goad to purchase [A: 10-1-04 / U: 10-1-04]

2. Spyware B1aster - spyware-b1aster-software.com - no trial version locatable online; inadequate info about company & app (1); exploits name SpywareBlaster (note: should not be confused with the JavaCool app of the same name) [A: 3-25-05 / U: 3-25-05]

No. 1 Snooper doesn't sound good at all. 2. I'm guessing you have the JavaCool version of B1aster & not the one listed there. However the JavaCool version is free. Ref.

Default spy ware

I do so appreciate the understanding and help I am getting from this forum about this serious issue. The spyware blaster is the java cool version. As far as I can see it has never found any problems and it is supposed to be running in the background. Webroot is my best program I think and it is very pro active. I have managed to keep my system free from all worms, trojans and now most adware/spyware programs.
If LW has no adware then I can only assume that the adware which I received from the dload was from some other source from which I received the program. It was dloaded from several sourses or I received if from some music which I dloaded from a source at LW.
LOR I would be interested in the spyware/adware programs which keep your system free from problems.
Thanks again,
U1st

My primary operating system is Mac OSX. We don't have to worry about viruses or any of that type of thing ... yet.

On the windows set up (win 2k), I only use the 2 suggested earlier. With help from Norton & Avg. I'm not a windows expert (or any type of expert), so if I was using windows full-time, I might have other options also. If you want to see recommended spywares utilities, then check out the link I gave. They do unfortunately list Pestpatrol as a recommended one. I've been in contact with the owner of the site about that issue. However, PP was on their bad list for a time until they lifted their game. But it still detects LW when it shouldn't.

The more sypyware tools you install, the more they will conflict and infest your computer.
