Default Firewalled

Hey Guys...
I have just finished moving and I've had to go from Cable internet to ADSL..
My problem is when running Limewire, Im firewalled now...
I haven't changed any of my settings from what I had before, any clues to why this has happened and any solutions would be greatly appreciated...
Cheers

Default New Firewall

Hi WW

So you have mysteriously gained a new firewall.

I'll take a wild guess and say that (maybe) your new ISP has provided you with a firewall, I know that some ISPs automatically virus check your emails for you so maybe they have graduated to providing you with a firewall as part of their installation package.

If you have got a new firewall it should show up in your system tray or, at the very least, in your Add/Remove list.

Hope this helps.

UK Bob

Hi UK Bob,
The thing is its the same ISP, I have just moved to an ADSL area and where I lived before was a cable area, so do you think they might have the firewall in the installation cd???
Thanks for your time mate

May I ask which isp?

Chances are your modem/router settings have gone back to default. See if you can enable UPnP again. Check this section 1/4 way down this page Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

What happens when you send your browser here? http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

BTW what brand & model of modem/router set up devices do you have?

Edit: Ah so you're now using ADSL instead of cable?!?! Check your LW settings also. Keep in mind you'll probably have a different ip no. so ... that may make a difference with your firewall!

Try typing http://192.168.254.254 into your browser. Are you able to log into your device?

I'd try to call telecom to ask their opinion. I know they won't help with 3rd party programs, but you could try to mask it.

Have you tried deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Hi wondering why

Your modem has a NAT firewall in it go to the link below and follow the instructions. The link will take you to the port forwarding page for setting up your modem for LimeWire.

Hi LOTR, thats the IP I put in 10.0.0.1, does that mean that when I disconnect it will go back to having a firewall...When I followed the directions all the boxes were blank so I added the subnet, the default gate and the DNS manually and I put 10.0.0.1 in the IP box, have I stuffed it up lol...
