Default Searching in multiple languages?

I would like to search using various languages, for example, Arabic, Thai, Japanese, and Korean, all at the same time. (Doing one search in one language, then another in another language...) When I try to search all that shows up are little squares. Can I run a Limewire in a shell with some language variables set that will allow me to view all these languages at once? I would like to keep Limewire with English as the main display...I just want to write (and be able to read!) in other languages.

I am running Fedora Core 5 and Limewire 4.10.

Normally, you can search in multiple languages in LW. Perhaps Sun's Java doesn't convert foreign characters correctly from the Gnome interface...

You should try to update your Java if you don't have the latest (1.5.0_6)

Bonne chance!

Default I've got the latest Java

I don't think it's a java problem. Other programs display the characters just fine. With FC4 I had a small shell script that I could run to use a Japanese environment...I'm guessing there's something similar I can do (LANG, etc.?) to get this to work.

Problem is, I don't know much about setting these variables. Anyone know what I could set to get a different language or multiple languages to show?

Which languages are you after? 'Most times' chinese & japanese show up fine on my LW. I have had issues with files originating from other clients, particularly the multi-network ones. Here's some references http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=chinese

Verdyp would probably be the best person to ask.
