please help a MACOSX user

I operate an imac with intel with the OSX 10.4.6. My limewire version is 4.10.9. I have the latest versions of realplayer and quicktime. Whenever i download a movie in the "avi" form i always have trouble opening the file. Is there anything i can do to correct this?? Thanks for any suggestions.

Try the vlc player free from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Some mac users like Mplayer but some dont :)

RealPlayer & wmp on the mac are hopeless. You can't add codecs. So yes, as OAH suggested, either VLC or MPlayer are the ones to aim for. ;) MPlayer has been known to be a little buggy, but both vlc & mp have about the same ability. mplayer might even be able to do something vlc can't but also likewise for vlc.

thank you

i just wanted to thank the two of for your suggestion of VLC. Its working without a hitch. Its so much easier to use compared to realplayer or quicktime. Thanks again!
