I operate an imac with intel with the OSX 10.4.6. My limewire version is 4.10.9. I have the latest versions of realplayer and quicktime. Whenever i download a movie in the "avi" form i always have trouble opening the file. Is there anything i can do to correct this?? Thanks for any suggestions.

RealPlayer & wmp on the mac are hopeless. You can't add codecs. So yes, as OAH suggested, either VLC or MPlayer are the ones to aim for.
MPlayer has been known to be a little buggy, but both vlc & mp have about the same ability. mplayer might even be able to do something vlc can't but also likewise for vlc.

i just wanted to thank the two of for your suggestion of VLC. Its working without a hitch. Its so much easier to use compared to realplayer or quicktime. Thanks again!
