Well look at it this way... If you do get it illegally, Who's going to know? Who's going to tell? Why should they care? They cannot stop everyone now can they?

There's lots of stuff that's not copyright. There's bands that use p2p to promote & spread their music. There's photographers who do the same & share similar. And for some other material, there's http://www.magnetmix.com/ / http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & some others I can't think of the name of at the moment.
BTW I share some of my previous bands' music & I know of others who do the same.
