Default 1 issue, and 1 question

Hello again,

Yesterday I posted a question on how to shut off the Ultrapeer capabilities, I disabled it but for some reason it still connecting me to 5 Ultrapeers even with the it disabled. The reason I'm trying to disable it is to have more then 5 hosts at a time. Last week I had 100's of hosts and without doing anything I now only have 5 Ultrapeers (LM Pro). It's acting a little strange.

Anyway here is my other question, In the connection tab what does the Dropped I/O mean? I have 5 ultrapeers with a status of outgoing and with Drpooed (I/O)'s OF 65%/0% on average for all 5 hosts. I'm not sure what this means and if it's normal?

Thanks
fdiphill

If you're connected as a leaf (ie with u/p capabilities disabled), all you'll see in the connections window is the 5 u/ps that you're connected to. Leaves don't see many connections. If you want to see all those connections (peers, other u/ps etc)... you yourself will have to be an ultrapeer. Ultrapeers are the ones who see loads of connections.

You can't make yourself an u/p though... the network will decide for you. To ever become an u/p you have to have 'disable u/p capabilities' unticked. If you saw hundreds of connections last week you were running as an u/p.

Hope I haven't confused you

If not an ultrapeer then must be a leaf!

If he's only connecting to 5 u/ps then he's a leaf, yes?
But if he wants heaps of connections, he's going to have to run as an u/p , yes?

Or am I losing my mind

5 = leaf for a pro user.

Ultrapeering doesn't necessary mean that afaik. Yes he/she connects to heaps more, but that's also bandwidth used to help those others to connect & to help filter their incoming.

Whilst Ultrapeering, sharing is less important. But whilst up'ing there might also be some other advantages.

I'm not the best to comment about ultrapeering.

Default Thanks I think I got it.

Thank you Birdy HB and LOR,

This site (and all of you that put your time and effort into your replies) are awsome, You've taught me alot over the past few months. It's funny I think the competition Npstr and the others are trying to get new menbers by saying that their free but of course there only free for 30 days then they hit you with a monthy premium, very deceptive advertising. You think they're starting to realize the power of LM??

PS: Tonight LM is running fast and strong.

Thanks,
fdiphill
