What a bad thread what is the idea here to scare people away from purchasing pro? People opinions do not and will never tell you if limewires days are limited unless they are the opinions of the people who could make it happen. Limewires days are obviously limited as are the days of everthing trying to predict when or how this will come about 5 days 5 years 5 decades is just ridicolous. Read all and believe very little about what you here. Also if you intend posting a thread like this put in the links to the (fishy stuff) u found instead of spreading it as a scare story in a place where download noobs come for help and advice about something they are already unsure of.

There are many powerful interests who want to control and profit from information, and they don't like open information sharing around the world.

Those of us who do like and can handle open information sharing are glad the owner of LimeWire, Mark Gorton, made his program free and open source, so anybody (including the scammers) could modify and distribute the code.

So while powerful interests may be able to shut down LimeWire (the company), the code for LimeWire is already freely available to anyone who wants to improve and reuse it. See www.frostwire.com for a sample of a legitimate group who is continuing the ideals of LimeWire in case LW closes its doors.

BTW--the "threat" to LimeWire.com is the best reason to keep supporting the developers who write the code for limewire.org, IMHO, by donating to Pro regularly

I doubt it. Even if they are, I know of some other P2P programs that people will just switch too. OR more will pop up. I don't see why/how they'd shut them down.......

Enough people pay for Pro that LW can support more than 7 full-time developers http://www.limewire.com/english/content/team.shtml , AND LW can release an opensource client for FREE without having to fall back on ad-support.

Sheesh! spread the word and get your friends to help these folks support development for as much as they can, while they can.

With 3 million LW users estimated currently, $10 from 1% more can support much more development.

I myself donate twice a year. And will continue to do so even if they do implement limits. LimeWire developers will still continue to develop the basic core of limewire which is open source. The limits can be removed by other developers like the frostwire team. So the improvements will continue as long as the LimeWire developers can afford to do it. And with 7 developers working on one code the improvements are undoubtedly going to continue.
