That should be 2 GiB. 1 GB as limit does not make much sense. But why would LimeWire start the download of a file it cannot finish anyway?

As I said, I'm not sure....
However, since I got the information from "grandpa" who is definitely an experienced user, I thought I could state it the way I did.....including me not being sure.

Same thing happened to me once

I have no idea what went wrong. Had enough space. I was able to get almost the complete file back using Restoration (approx 6 minutes of the movie missing)

Use your computer as little as possible until the recovery. You may overwrite parts of it by accident

BTW the file I lost was only 730 MB, so it wasn't any filesize limit causing this

LimeWire uses signed 32-bit integers for filesizes. Therefore it cannot handle files larger than 2 GiB. They will certainly fix that somewhen but haven't done so for years.
