That would be the real media player:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RealAudio
But I'm almost certain that the free VLC player will be able to play them as well:

It's anyway one of the best media players nowadays.....

MPlayer is another which can play real media files. It's a similar program to VLC but there's some things each can or can't do. (both programs are also open source projects)

MPlayer...??? ......are you refering to the Media Player Classic??.....or is there another one around that I haven't heard about ??.....
Let's see, VLC Player, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, Jet Audio Media Player, Real Player, WinAmp Media Player, FLV Player, QuickTime Player, Nero ShowTime Player, N-kia Media Player......I hope I haven't forgotten one that hides on my system......besides, with all those players on my machine I could even bring my socks to be played.....

Real Player plays .rm files, which is one of the five I use.

Which are VLC, WMP, Quicktime, RealPlayer and Divx plus I have also used WinAmp and MusicMatch (I think it was audio only). I also remember using Vivo and another couple of obscure media players (can't remember their names).

I discovered yesterday that MPlayer can play individual VOB files (with sound) but can't play DVD's. Whereas VLC can play DVD's but not individual VOB files.
