Ntl is fine, but it is a cable tv provider - this means you get generally good broadband (all ISP have their problems) but have to use their other services. They are currently upgrading their packages so best to visit the home page for info: http://www.ntl.com/ They have recently merges with telewest (another cable operator) and the group has bought virgin mobile. You will have to check if they cover the area you are moving to. They advertise as 'unlimited' and it basically is, although there is a small part in the contract which allows them to curb your usage (but I've never heard of this happening, and would expect it only to happen for very high usage), and they do not block P2P usage. Oh and BTW in the UK I am pretty sure any authortity needs a UK Court order to get your details from any ISP. Here is a useful site to check what Broadband is available in the area you are moving to: http://www.broadbandchecker.co.uk/ There is a pop-up so best use Firefox, you will need to know the postal code for the address you are moving to. Hope that helps :) |

mickjapa108 You should check the ISP's which are available in your area. Bulldog was recommended to me also but I found that they didnt service the area where I lived. I've downloaded a large amount over the last couple of months and have had no complaints from the ISP Before you sign on with any ISP, always check their policy on downloading (I found unlimited means different things to different servers) especially the times! |
Mickjapa108 Bulldog had recently announced that it was not taking on anymore domestic customers while it was in negotiations to sell itself, now Bulldog is owned by Pipex and is signing up new customers again. Here is the announcement: Quote:
https://secure.bulldogbroadband.com/...archtype=telno Now the question, am I happy with Bulldog? Well, they are cheap and they do not curb P2P traffic, however this might change under Pipex, but for now they are OK. There is plenty of room for improvement, for example, they were late in getting me switched over from BT to their network (leaving me without phone or internet connection for 2 – 3 weeks) and there was a fault which stopped friends and relatives calling me when the switch over was completed. Nevertheless, I understand that these faults were down to dirty tricks by BT engineers, i.e. deliberately creating faults so that Bulldog would be blamed for them. I still have one or two issues to be sorted out but nothing that would make me start looking for another ISP at the moment. Anyway, good luck in choosing your new ISP. UK Bob |
Hi, Ukbobboy and all Sorry im late posting, did'nt see replys I do not have, or want Television and Im happy with my phone Conection BT its not the ch-eapest but its Reliable. Most all of the ch-eap ISP's in my area do all in one Phone/Tele/Internet bundels. No ch-eap Unlimited for just Internet. As far as NTL goes, If you have a large bank account that never goes overdrawn its ok, But if your late by one day they disconect you, then charge for re,con, or bank will hit you for red charges, you know what I mean a check submited late and you dont have what you thought in the bank so NTL cut you off. A few friends have said about this. I dont care much about D/L speed, My job if you like is distributing Songs,Pic's Books,Videos ect.. Hare Krishna files 3000 at any one time, so I would just like more than 30 KBs up for no more than £30,monthly Yer I could run to £30 if I cut the dog & budgie's allouance. Bulldog! I did fill in all info Post Code inc.. It returnd Invalid Address,Ive lived there for 15 years. I would like to try Bulldog though. Im not comsavy so navigating,n troublshooting bewilder me. I better check your links they may have sorted my prob, later, n thanks UK Bob |
