Because I do not have individual internet service for my laptop, I use the ISP of whatever building I am in. At my home, the firewall is not very strong so the Gnutella network can get in. However, when I access the internet from the college i go to, Limewire cannot get in. I'd be ok with this if there wasnt an annoying error code that popped up literally every two seconds. Please, does anyone know how to stop this without changing the firewall settings?

Schools often have their own p2p filter programs to either stop them connecting or to shape the bandwidth they use. Not much can be done about that. Schools sometimes also have security which prevents non-approved programs from accessing the net.

You could talk to the computer support staff at the school & ask if there's a way you can use LW there.
