Default Recent Browsing and connecting, is it just me????

As usual been indulging in the three most dangerous words for me '' I've been thinking'' Well wondering really, since I installed router with firewall, Iv'e noticed a few differences with my Limewire expierience, are these differences the router or the '' Network'' I wonder, as they have been getting worse over time, firstly, I now cannot browse from my Upload window (Used to) can still browse from my download window, but there is a lag, this '' Lag '' means that I now have to wait for at least 15 to 20 minutes after starting LWire, I used to be able to browse from my Connections window almost immediatley to check on Ultrapeer speeds etc.. and ditch the modem or dsl connections in favour of T1 or T3, now as i say i have to wait quite a while before the ''Browse'' function works, i know that its a hit and miss thing browsing, one minute you cant then you can, but this is a pain. Iv'e also noticed that often the browse works and say gives you 200 results on a host, if you browse that host again you may get 500 files showing, one trick that works, is when files start showing, scroll the slide bar down slowly, as they are loading, almost to the bottom, and that seems to bring up the maximum files for that host.
second, apart from Lag,it takes a lot longer to get 5 ultrapeers, that used to happen really FAST, now it does not, lastly dont know if it's part of same problem, when connecting as an UPeer, my download speeds are really bad, not nearly as good as they used to be??? also takes longer to become an UPeer. Is this in any way just me?? part of the squeezing of the network at the moment??
Any Ideas?
N2,
PS Love the new look name ! quite taken with it !
PPS Happy Christmas all you hard working folks ! And THANKS for all the help so unselfishly given, much appreciated.
PPPS I notice that when connected to the forum recently, it ''Flashes'' or blinks, or momentarily dissapears, is this my fading eyesight? or the beginning of the end of my cognitive function? (I thinkI'm getting old?)
Using Mozilla F.1.0.8.
Have latest Java, plenty of space and memory etc..

To add insult to injury, just got a '' Corrupt Installation'' message, and the whole thing froze, so re-installed LWire, but still have the same '' Lag'' and problems with Browsing, re-installed Firefox, run every spyware package on the planet( Thanks to links on forum) lots of antivirus scans , all seems clean, so what on earth is going on???
PS saved the error log, but dont know how to submit it?
ANY HELP on this , I'm STUCK.
Thankyou ,,,,,,,,,,newbee2

Thanks Only a hobo, for suggestions, taken you up on it, working on Hijackthis log files as we speak, good site too, thanks, tried blacklight root scan too, nothing on it,counterspy found some traces of hijack and a couple of things that nothing else did, hasnt changed much tho,if i discover anything will let forum know. out of interest, when LWire has an error, you have the chance to submit error, by clicking 'Send' when it froze this time before reinstall, it saved a 'Log' somewhere on C drive, no 'Send' option, is there an explanation for this? and I cant find the saved log !! it was a different window, one iv'e not seen before?
Thanks for reply, I thought everyone had gone home for Christmas.
Have a great christmas one and all,I'll limp on until things get better !

Hi, semi-update, found that spywareblaster(Free) had made a connection to a dialer site ! on install(Wasn't happy with that !!)have since dumped it and bought spysweeper, also found a partially downloaded movie file that wasn't what it said on the can! had to use a bulldozer to extract that one! (18- Lost in miami) if i'm allowed to say, avoid like the plague!! Since i removed both, my '' Browse '' function has returned to normal..... HOORAY
System still using a lot of memory though???? await hijackthis logfiles report with interest !! also suspect browser settings were changed, have reset. FORUM still Flashing and jumping tho???
Have a great Christmas one and all, and thanks hobo !

Presume partial download was festered up with worm or something? is this common with movie files? none of my old defenses picked it up.

second question and more worrying, tonight i was downloading stuff mostly jpg,and a file that i hadnt requested was downloaded, it said it was a '' Q'' file 0 bytes just a line of QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ with a .bak type logo at the start, deleted it straight away, it even briefly came up with '' cannot read from source file or disc'' but it did delete, how is this possible????? it just arrived unannounced???? has anyone else come across this, quite scary !Newbee2
