Doesnt all the accounst made here that just ask one question take up alot of bandwith couldnt you just open a couple of discuions to ppl without accounts you can still ip ban them

The purpose of this forum is to help other people, regardless of how many questions they ask. Changing the direction of this forum to a more elitare style (as you suggest) would contradict this purpose.

This forum, along with many others can have many problems dealing with spammers and trolls and other undesirables. Further I have visited forums where every post is by "Guest" and you have no idea who is talking to whom. I think the idea of a "beginners forum" has been thought about, and discarded. I've seen some of the habitual trolls and spammers on newsgroups, and it is good that these forums can avoid the excesses of such behavior.

In fact, what would be good is that every visitor to the forums be made to read through some of the stcky notices, before they could post, which in many events would give the answer to many of the simplest questions. There is a wealth of information here to those who use the search feature, and if they still wish to ask a question, it is not too hard to register and ask. We don't want to put people off, but it would sometimes be good not to have to repeat answers endlessly, or have to ask for some useful information from a poster who writes
