![]() I have a question, forgive me if this has been put in the wrong room but I am relatively new here, my dvd burner used to burn my movies but has since failed, in the properties it says dvd wr but in the device under that it says dvd rom, I have tried 2 different types of dvd blank discs but it keeps giving me an error message please insert a dvd disc, or similar, have not tried as yet a cd burn , but I was able to use my writer for both before, anyone any idea what could have happened here? |

![]() You know BrainDamaged You have not even mentioned the make and model of your DVD burner and you want some sort of answer. Well here's one, you should contact the Customer Support section of the company that made or supplied your burner and put your question to them. That way you stand a chance of getting a real answer rather than a speculative one based on the "nothing" you have supplied. Shark Chum Bob |

![]() sincerest apologies ukbobboy01, totally slipped my mind at the time, I have a sony dvd rw-U14A, in a custom made pc running windows xp pro, I used to be able to burn my films on it, others have had this problem apparantly, seems to be a software thing but at the present unsure, I will know more when I get a cd disc in and try the music burn, it says that this hardware is working in the properties, beyond that I am at a total loss, again sincerest apologies. |

![]() BrainDamaged You have given a bit more info and a clue to what is wrong but anything anyone in this forum can suggest will still only be speculation. At this point, based on your info, there can only be one of three causes: a) Your burning software has become corrupt and should be deleted and re-installed. b) Your CD/DVD burner has developed a fault, if this is the case you should replace it if it is outside of it's gaurantee period. PC peripherals are so cheap nowadays it is cheaper (and easier) to replace it rather than spend money on it to get it repaired. c) Your burning software can no longer see the burner's correct drive letter. A couple of years ago a friend of mine had a similar problem, everytime he tried to burn a CD he got an error merssage telling him to put a blank CD in the drive. This problem occured after he had some upgrade work done on his PC, under the terms of the store's gaurantee, when he found he could no longer burn CDs. As he was using the same burning software as me, Nero 5, I gave him a helping hand. What we found was that the "upgrade" process had caused Nero to see the wrong drive letter, i.e. "E:\" instead of "D:\", so all my friend now had to do was enter the burner's correct drive letter in the software's user functions. End of problem. Hope this helps. UK Bob |

![]() Does it say need more sources after a minute or so, if it does the sources of the movie are not connected. So try again later, I find ,depending on where you live the evening time is the best time to try and download as its more active as people are back from work. |
