This is my first time with any forum so forgive me if I make mistakes.....please.
My simple question is.......I searched for an artist and was shown lots of songs but when I clicked "download: a little box showed up saying "unable to find licence" with the option to "download anyway" The question is if I download this song is it illegal ??? If so why am I being given the option when I read on the site to show the copywright owner respect ?? Well that's my first try..not too difficuly really |

LW is used by people from all over the world, so whether it's legal or not depends on the copyright laws for where you live. In some countries it's legal to d/l copyrighted files but not upload them. In some it would be illegal to d/l them and I'm sure in some it doesn't matter. Hope that helps.

Seems my "basic Question" is not quite "basic" after all.
I live in Canada and I absolutely will NOT download any songs that are illegal. Can you be more specific for me please?? What exactly does that pop up box mean ? Thanks so far |

Well I've downloaded 4 songs that were all "illegal" and no federal man has got me. I think it means that the file is not completely secure and might contain a virus. maybe...

I'm not qualified to give legal advice and it wouldn't be wise of you to accept it. Ultimately it's your responsibility to to make sure your actions are within the laws of your country. If the music police come after you, it won't matter what I've posted on this forum. You'll be the one who has to answer for your actions....but I do seem to remember someone saying it's legal to d/load copyrighted files in Canada......I think
