![]() When I try to send a message in lime wire it comes back with: Could not send chat message. Host is unavailable. it happens with all the attempts and different people. Is there some settings that i am not aware of? My chat is enable in Options. Please help. Thanks, |

![]() I just tried it and if working you get a chat window. I just got a 'Host is unavailable' reply. I believe it means that the person you are requesting 'chat' with has either quit Limewire, or has logged off the internet and the 'Host is unavailable'. Also they may just not reply. I have only had one person reply to my requests to 'chat' in the several years that I have been using LW. I think you are doing everything right. |

![]() Chat....So far I have never been able to chat with anyone....its hard to believe that there would never be anyone on. And I checked the settings and they are correct. Does this website happen to have live chat forums? |

![]() Which version of LW are you using? If using LW 4, then see the links within this thread: How do I chat?. Some people just open their mouths when others are around & suddenly chat happens. Amazing how humans developed that ability. lmao ![]() ![]() Right-click the top of the heading bars of the search results window, download window & upload window. Choose to show Chat from the drop down menu. You will see a smiley for those who have chat enabled. You can only chat with those who have chat enabled. LW 5 is a different kettle of fish. Off hand I cannot remember if chat is even an option. In LW 5 they took out most of the advanced features to make it a program for dumbies who just want to download with little fuss. |

![]() Hi Surgeman, I'm glad you started a thread with this question because I can't even find information on how to post a new thread. My issue is similar to yours but not exactly the same. I have no problem opening the Chat screen, but I cannot type into it and in this new version of Limewire, I can't even figure out who is a host to right click on to try to start chatting. I'm hoping someone who reads your post will be able to help me. I first searched through threads for "can't type into Chat screen" and "how to find and connect with host" but those posts were from 2007 and 2008 using a different version of Limewire. This is very confusing. |

![]() 1. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...our-posts.html 2. Chat was removed from LW 5, unfortunately. That's why there's no updated posts to the Chat feature. As noted in green text in this post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...tml#post139263 Whilst later versions of LW 5 are gradually bringing back in some of the tools they left out from LW 4, AFAIK Chat will not be one of them according to a discussion with one of the LW staff. |
