ERROR MESSAG; file is not valid or is corrupted

I have been happily downloading for two years, and quite often use the choons I download as background music for Windows Movie Maker files.

All of a sudden Movie Maker won't let me use ANY clips, either old or new downloads. The message i get is

(name of song).mp3 could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted

Does anyone have any ideas?
