I'm just surprised....I mean no one seems to understand GNUTELLA is a developmental process. Everyone seems like they just want a way to download their porn faster.

I am a KID??? I am not 16... - I am 30!

And yes I am no developer - but if I donīt understand something I ask other developers "how" all works and "what" is possible!

SO I think I can build my opinion - I tested almost all clients and I speak daily with at least two developers...

Do you really think you are the only man in this forum here who understands how GNUTELLA works?

And "shut up" and Morgwen its a girls name are very good arguements!

Let me say it in your words - shut up!

And what has Mr. Anti-Bearshare done exept for complaining too ?
I'm now in the Clean LimeWire project .
Thus I'm actually contibuting something .

I've had allot of PM's and mails from people that couldn't get LimeWire to install because the official installer crashed .
So I've started to write my own installers for LW and I've had nothing but positive E-mail yet .

BTW : If any of the LW crew read this flame-war :
Have you ever considered using a installer not dependant on "Windows Installer" ?
Allot of people have problems with Windows Installer and InstallShield .

It wasnt an argument, it was mockery.

You forgot to put the 'rolleyes' syntax after you're witty remarks there. I guess its just the old age.

I havnt complained about the spyware, installer, or limewire connections (what was happening with v1.9-2.0). As you can see those people that have complained I have explained what was going on to them (as you and others). About the installer, just zip LimeWire using the exact path and tell them to make sure to have java installed. If they cant do that. They should run the basic version and help pay for the development.

Alright guys, this thread has gotten a bit unproductive. I'm tempted to close it, but I'm hoping that we might be able to reach some resolution on this.

All I can say is that it's definitely difficult for everyone to see eye to eye on everything -- lord knows I have problems with this myself quite frequently. The three primary contributors to this thread are also three of the most energetic and almost always beneficial contributors on this forum. So, I guess I just ask that everyone use their knowledge in a productive way. When conflicts come up, it would be good if we could try to be a bit more cooperative.

I have to admit that I have gotten frusrated with VTOLFreak's posts on various occasions (no offense, man, but it's the truth!), but I have to agree with Morgwen's point that it's healthy to have a little disagreement. Also, you (VTOLFreak) clearly have considerable knowledge, particularly for 15 year old. Morgwen and anti-bearshare are two of the most consistently helpful people on this forum. And, come on, anti-bearshare runs Free-BSD -- you gotta like that.

At the same time, we would definitely appreciate it if users would treat us with respect. That doesn't go just for us, though -- I feel strongly that everyone on the forum should be treated with respect -- particularly when we disagree.

So, anyway, sorry this is getting a little long and turning into some strange rant/philosophical meandering. Let's just get this thing (Gnutella) rolling like it should be and show a little respect for each other's efforts.

Plus, it just hurts me to see you guys fight. It makes me feel like I'm a failure as a moderator or something, you know? Does nobody think about me around here? Just kidding.

Closing the thread sounds good to me. I just find it very irratable when such people spout about things they know nothing about. I'm in the computer field and I meet people like this all the time (Microsft talk, errr....insanity). Most of the time I do nothing, but there are times where they cross the line or I find the urge to correct their ignorance. I also find myself not boasting about my knowledge like so many generic geeks do or try to do. I feel like the wiser, listens then speaks. As I've said before voices with ignorance must not be heard. Thats how ignorance spreads. But we do learn from our mistakes and hopefully we will correct them. Thank you.

Morgwen January 25th, 2002 02:51 AM

Anti-bearshare!

If you are so wise, and want to ignore the ignorant... why donīt you stop to insult them? This is an open forum here not only for developers or computer freaks!

@ afisk

Please close this thread!

Alright guys, here goes -- this thread is closing. All I can say is let's try to keep up the level of civility on the forum overral, less we degenerate into the new bearshare.net (sorry Vinnie).
