That's ok...You will see the direct connect tab here 
If you click on it your IP number will be there, same for your family, if it isn't then that means that you are being blocked by a firewall....
If you do see the IP number, you give that to the person you want to connect to and they give you their's, you then enter that number into the box provided and that's it you should connect...
But if it doesn't work the first few times, don't be to worried, sometimes the direct connect has a bad day...
