Just did a quick, VERY Unscientific Test, and what I came up with, is if you disable DHT Capabilities, the hits decreased considerablely.
To disable DHT go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance. Check Disable Mojito DHT Capabilities. I also Disabled TLS which will save CPU resources.

With DHT Enabled, Had Files with Hits between 500 and 900 in a span of about 30 minutes.

With DHT Disabled, Had only 2 Files with just over 200 hits in the same time frame.

I don't know if this is helpfull or even relevent, but it did seem to have some sort of impact on this issue.
