![]() I came to this forum for one reason. To wit: Limewire warned all, with a displayed window, that there were problems with an infiltrator and please download the latest version to insure your security. I deleted the old Limewire program immediately. I clicked on the download address displayed by Limewire. I was unable, after several attempts, to download the new version. I was denied every attempt. Nor was a I able to find an alternative download (that I knew was safe). So I joined Gnuella forums (since Limewire apparently doesn't offer support to basic users) and someone sent me an address to download the new Limewire. It infected my compuer immediately. The first song I downloaded, The Lady Came From Baltimore, by Tim Hardin, refused to play or open....or anything.... and my computer began to malfunction all over the place besides being slow all the time. I worried about that Limewire download because everything was fine before and it was the first problem I had with operating. So I did a complete scan....and there it was: Trogan//ladycamefrombaltimore//limewire etc. ![]() Now I am trying to rid my computer of Limewire and I cannot. It's beyond my com-pacity and is apparently quite complicated. Limewire offers no help. While its true that I use Basic and pay nothing getting a computer crash, and no solution, wasn't really what I expected or deserved. I have noticed from checking around that most people advise going to Add or Remove Programs....Limewire does not even appear in my All Programs list at all. So what do I do now folks? |

![]() uh huh...document this claim of yours that you got this "evil download for the Limewire that I was sent through Gnuella forums....the one that got me infected." in any way from here....you know like a link to a post with that link in it (which I edited from your post)

![]() Prove it? What kind of reply is that? I think a genius like you can go to my original thread (where I asked if anyone could give me a safe easy download for Limewire), and read the reply I got which included the download site you deleted. I think you'll see it was posted to me there. "Proving" I downloaded from that site doesn't seem easy to do, but I am not on here to waste my time with such nonsense. I came here because thru Gnuella forums I wound up with a dysfunctional Limewire and thru insidious virus download came thru Limewire thus downloaded. I asked for the method for deleting this Limewire program and you were no help at all. I don't have to prove anything to you. If you don't want to help please don't reply. koolmuse |

![]() uh huh...well IC now that LOTR advised you to download that version...and I assume its a valid one....which means you got no problems from that download/install, rather said other issues came in some other fashion... you do have to prove your point...said point being that you got compromised because of this forum...I don't think so...it would be best if you realized that also... perhaps there was a virus in that mp3....or more likely that mp3 was no mp3 but a .exe virus named as an mp3...

![]() Though I may have downloaded the virus myself my primary question remains unanswered and that is: How do I remove this infected Limewire, and the damage it has done, from my computer? And if it's a legitimate safe version why can't I just "Add/remove programs" as simple as 1-2-3? And why, oh why, doesn't Limewire even appear on my All Programs list? It appears to me that the site I was directed to, thru Gnuella, is somehow not right because I can't remove it. Wouldn't this seem so to you? "My punishment" for using Limewire for free, is mainly Limewire's fault for having no apparent help/contact, unless you are a paying member. Being not so computer-inclined I assumed that the download I was given was a filter against viruses and "infiltrators" as Limewire warned. After all that was why I wanted to download it to begin with at Limewire's urging. Limewire should provide the methods for removing vulnerable infected Limewire versions. Since they don't, I appeal to Gnuella Forums for some sound instruction. So far it hasn't worked out well. And I see few alternatives that I can rely on. the myriad of websites that claim to remove it could be equally insidious. How do I know which is good and which is not? So where does one turn? |

![]() AFAIK you have to remove LW via its own uninstaller...access this via Start>All Programs>LimeWire you may have to reinstall the version you downloaded then do the above
