I paid for a year of limewire a little over a month ago and now use a different computer (same home as old computer). I downloaded the free limewire but I don't know how to get my paid version of limewire on my newer computer... please help! Thank you!!!

I am new here and I have a similar problem as Spirit Whiisperer does. My PC went out last weekend. I purchased a new one and had an old version of Limewire that I paid I think about a $42.00 fee for a few years ago for life. It was not Limewire Pro. I can't remember my old e-mail address as it has been changed several times since the purchase. I have downloaded the freeby and it is completely different and when I download a song I get a message there is no license do I want to download any...or something similar I'm paraphrasing. Can anyone tell me if I can get my old subscription and how?

First of all, I have to tell you that you were scammed if you paid for a 'life membership'

LW basic is free.

LW Pro costs $21.95 for 6 months of email support & free updates or $34.95 for 12 months of email support & free updates. Sometimes there's an offer of Pro for $13.95 for a one-off download with no updates & no support,

There is no lifetime subscription. LW has never cost more than $34.95 from the official site. Scam sites are the ones who charge heaps & offer bogus lifetime memberships.
If you paid a scam site for Pro then you won't ever be able to update from the official site.

ain't life fun.... especially when you get scammed? It has been about 3 years ago and as I recall they charged me about $42.00 for a "lifetime" membership. Anyway, I downloaded the "free" version it is different than mine was but I guess I will have to get used to it. I have enjoyed limewire and it has worked fine...never any problems. I will check out the link you gave me for the message I get.

Don't feel bad - people get scammed every day.

If you want to keep using LW 5, you'll need to get used to a lot of differences The User Guide & FAQ for LW 5 are here at the top of the page: User Guide - LimeWire

If you'd rather go back to LW 4 (more like what you're used to) then you can always download it... just click on the 'Get Basic' button & then use the link to download old installers on the right hand side - then you can download a 4.18.8 installer

I'll stick with 5...times change..software changes..its time to move on. I fixed the message that came up about license and appreciate the help. I have played with the new version tonight and am getting use to it.
If all else fails I'll read the instructions
