![]() Hi, is Limewire violating the GPL, why do I _have_to_ register to download the source code? I thought it has to be free available, following GPL. This question is more theoretic, since I'm not really interested to do so. But I heard rumours that it's not possible to download or checkout LW source without being registerd. I tried today - and got stuck at http://core.limewire.org/servlets/Join Thx for help, Moak |

![]() On the download page, click on the links more below 'LimeWire Build Downloads' for direct download of source code. I used the first link 'LimeWire Source Code Downloads' and got stuck at a register page. http://www.limewire.org/project/www/download.html I'm not sure if this is the latest code and if all release get automatic available for unregisterd-users. I was just able to download some code. Greets, Moak PS: <conspiracy> on purose </conspiracy> ![]() Last edited by Moak; March 2nd, 2002 at 05:46 PM. |

![]() Moak- The GPL simply states that you need to make your source code available in some way. In the old days, that often meant agreeing to mail copies of the source code on disk to anyone who asked. We basically just forget to update the latest build links, althogh we likely will start doing so soon. Our release cycle is pretty quick, and we just haven't really integrated updating those links into our release process yet. So, hopefully we will start doing so soon. Thanks -- I'm still meaning to get to the developer files that you posted way back when -- sorry it's taken me so long!! |
