help for a newbie: No sound on files downloaded

i had someone using my computer think it was funny to clean it out. as i am a complete newbie, i downloaded limewire which was successful, but i can't get sound, only the info and playlists. i installed java,shockwave, adobe media player and do not know what else to do.what am i missing?
