Limewire Problems Loading/accessing

I have previously downloaded the free Limewire no probs but recently had to uninstall due to another free programme I stupidly downloaded which has also now been deleted.
I have now again downloaded free Limewire which all seems to be OK, I get the shortcuts appear on screen.
When I double click on the Limewire icon it flashes for a couple of seconds then nothing, nothing appears.
I have cleared Limewire from Add/Remove files and the other areas as far as I can see, however, I am no expert.
I have Widows XP, server Virgin Media.
I can download and access other web sites no problem.
The only firewall i have is Microsoft that comes with the initial package, I also have AVG free anti virus downloade.
Any ideas from anybody please?
