Yes I downloaded LW5 to update my program, I have been using Lime Wire for a number of years and love the program. However after trying to install LW5 the program would not launch, I had an error message saying that I needed Java 1.6+ to run LW5, but it then told me Java 1.6+ is not yet available and to try Java 1.5. but that wont work. Clever error message.

It is highly doubtful Apple will release Java 6 for earlier OSX's. It's their habit not to backdate Java compatibility. And it looks like your problem is not OSX 10.5, but the fact you are running a non-64 bit mac. O.o Otherwise a software update would have already installed Java 6 for you.
