Trouble Uninstalling

Ive tried to uninstall the new LW, but it hasnt worked! it only got rid of the uninstaller shortcut, but the rest of the LW is still on my computer! Is there any way to uninstall it now?

How did you uninstall it? Normal process is Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.

After installing this way, only files that should be left are Preferences folder & the saved/sharing & incomplete folders.

i got to the LW uninstaller through the 'search' in the start menu. those files you mentioned are still there, which is fine, but is still shows the LW program as being on my computer (and still in the start menu) even though it doesnt work when i click on it!

And the uninstaller is not there? Go to the Programs folder on the computer, find LimeWire program folder, open it, see if uninstaller is inside. If yes, open & uninstall.

If not, try the Add/Remove Programs control panel. If still nothing & even if you are able to uninstall using the add/remove c.p., remove the LW program folder to the trash & empty. Then run this utility: Crap Cleaner. This will help clean up the system, removing the LW registry bits. Removing LW using either of these ways does need a running of this utility. The utility may also find some older out of date registry bits from other programs, let it do its job, it is a very trusty program recommended at most technical support sites (choose Registry section when running). :)

After this, you should be able to install the new LW version. You 'might' wish to use this process, up to you: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html

should i let the cleaner fix everything on the list, or could this mess up stuff on my computer?
sorry im so computer illiterate!

Just click on the registry section for a start if you're worried. Yes let it fix everything. :) It does have a revert option, to revert back to before it does the cleaning. :) ie: saves the state of the system beforehand if you choose to allow it. ;)

Ii'm having problems gettin rid of limewore. I've unistalled it through add/remove programs, then reinstalled it and did it through program menu, then run ccleaner but either way it seems to be there still . I can't find it anywhere on my pc but when i go to download a torrent it goes into limewire.

Anychance of helping me out how to get rid of it completely and start dowloading back into utorrent.

Thanks

Hayley

No need to post 'repeat' posts. We will see them. ;)

Add/Remove Programs control panel is not the way to uninstall LW. From your Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.
Else, go to the program folder & you will find an uninstaller inside.

LW has not used the Add/Remove option for several years due to changes in the type of installer it uses.

LW's support site one one page suggests using Add/Remove control panel. I have no idea why. Doing so only causes people problems with a not completely removed program.
