Default Can't install 1.3 on wXP/2k or ? click here

** Only IF You can NOT install XoloX 1.3 / get errors**

With a certain % of XP/W2k users getting install errors with 1.3 from CNET and/or crashing on startup - although the errors reported have the signs of just a corrupt file being hosted ....
please try this solution.

This older( a few days) build359 ( cnet = build369) that we know *may* have errors when closing on some systems - but otherwise works the same and so far most in the "support" section have not reported the closing errors at all. So it may install fine for you and the likely solution...... Your welcome to try it,download attachment below.

PLEASE report feedback to THIS thread/post if this causes closing errors for you OR works fine along with your operating system! ( w98/wXP, wME, w2k, etc). This can help us determine if CNET's build should just revert to this one even if it was just a corrupt file.

NOTE: please see the announcement and/or beta section for latest updates

Question Tried both the 369CNET version and 359

Tried both the 369CNET version and 359
HELP Please! New to XOLOX

I am using wXP and I first downloaded the Beta version of XOLOX from CNET yesterday. Installed fine and searched OK but when downloading it repeatedly works for a minute or two and then shuts down with various error messages.

Uninstalled the CNET version and installed version 369 from the XOLOx site. Still didn't work - same problem.

Today I uninstalled version 369, - including the registry keys and installed version 359. Same thing happened all over again.

Seems like a great program if I could get it to work! It always crashes after downloading audio files for a few minutes.

Is there a version that is known to work with XP, - even an older version?

I have it set to be a server, and have tried it with virus protection on and off so neither of those things is the problem.

Thanks for any help with this:-)) Emails will be sent to me if you reply to this message.
----------------------------------------------------------
This is what I have done already:
. I installed XoloX, but it freezes at startup or doesn't function
properly?
A. If you had a previous version of XoloX installed make sure you un-install
it first. Additionally it is recommended that you delete the XoloX registry
key IF you are having these problems when upgrading from one version to the
next.
To do this go to Start > Run > Type in 'regedit' at the prompt and hit
return to enter the Windows Registry editor.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software and find the 'XoloX' Key. Right
click on the XoloX key and 'delete' it. Now re-install.

Note, this is an older build then cnet's 369 and may have a closing error/bug
but otherwise the exact same.

Are you running Norton Antivirus or a similar type program? Sometimes you have to reboot just for it to take effect.

If you did all those things already, i really don't know what you could try other then a complete clean install of b359 . this means just deleting the xolox folder entirely and the registry key first.

Hi KayaMan,

Thanks for answering my question. I am running NAV but I have rebooted after each installation of XOLO I have tried, three of them, and it still crashes after downloading for a few minutes at most. I installed CNET then 369 from the XOLO site then 359 as suggested in that post to the forum.

I deleted the old registry key both times and did two new complete installs- still doesn't work. It still crashes a few minutes after beginning the downloads.

Sometimes it says it is out of resources sometimes various other error messages many of which I have sent in such as:

Version: '1.3 Beta 1 build 369'
Error message: 'HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EInvalidOperation
Exception message:Canvas does not allow drawing Call stack: '
Team XoloX
bugs@xolox.nl

I am using XP, I have plenty of memory and HD space so I don't know why it is giving the out of resources warning. Is it possible to have too many audio files to download at once? Does the program automatically limit the number of uploads and downloads to do at one time like most do?

What's next to try? Is there an older version that works with XP?

Maybe I will have to wait for the next version?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Peace,
AUM

Default version 1.3 b369 from CNET

Hey KayaMan.......Thanks for the info!! I just installed b359 after having no luck with version 1.3 b369 ( illegal operation errors at start up). So far it works .....and works great!! BTW I'm on windows 98 SE. and had been using version 1.22 for a couple months with no problems.

I recomend others having install problems give it a try.

Thanks Again!

I love my Xolox !
So please fix it. Using Xp and it restarts every 20 min or so. If you can't fix the bug right away, a quick fix would be to include an optin to send the error report and restart Xolox automatically. You would get more reports that way and happier users as well.

PS
Amazing thankyous for such a wonderfull service.

Unreg'd "If you can't fix the bug right away, a quick fix would be to include an optin to send the error report and restart Xolox automatically"

XoloX already does do that.... if it produces a bug report it does send it ( especially since it's in a beta state ). If it does not any longer... thats news to me.

Todd
Thanks for the feedback

AUM
Sorry to hear, all i can say is hopefully another release will be out monday ( or sometime soon). This is odd because it did go through extensive beta testing ( apparently not enough). I think the new method will be offering to everyone on the site or at least here in the forums before ever going to cnet with it again.

.... thanks

I use win XP pro, and xolox 1.3 didnt work for me, but the new download did (so far, only been running for 10 minutes). the 1.3, however wouldnt even start up, so this is an improvement.

Hi EveryOne,
