E-Donkey and no downloads

Hi, can anyone help. I use Shareaza to upload and download files. When connected to gnutella 1 and 2, eveything goes pretty smoothly with ok speeds. When I connect to edonkey everything grinds to a standstill, nothing goes except edonkey uploads. Can anyone tell me why this is?
