Shareaza likes me. I can use it but not Limewire to connect. Might have been because I got a free download of PRO from File Planet...

but, Shareaza works great for me. I have yet to discover a "bad" file.

I prefer Limewire over Shareaza, even though I used to use Shareaza all the time for a while...

Ok, this is the lowdown on this whole thing. The viruses on P2P networks, they are on ALL of them man. There is not really a network without viruses. So what is the good news? The good news is that it is extremely easy to avoid every single one of them.

1. Never download all those 35 KB files that are almost always in WMA/WMV format. Look at the file, what file that small could possibly be of any use?

2. When searching for programs, NEVER NEVER download .exe files, download only .RAR or .ZIP files.

3. If you download a .RAR or .ZIP file, and it only has a single file inside, and the file is called Setup.exe be on the alert! This is useally a malware/spyware/virus type of file. I suggest that you scan it with a good virus scanner before if you still wish to open/run the file.

4. How to remove all those small virus/spyware files in the searches? Use shareaza's filter in the search window and set it to only show files that are 1 MB or larger. Any song or video worth looking at will be bigger than that!

If you follow these rules you reduce the chances of ever getting a virus/spyware infection almost completely.

If you are not intelligent enough to follow these rules, or you think it is too much work to do so, you should strongly think about not useing ANY P2P program.

For all the people who liked LimeWire or BeareShare and said the network got you most of what you wanted, but you didn't get that with shareaza, hahahahahah. You all should know those two programs use the GNutella network, which is one of the multiple networks shareaza can connect to, which means if you had it set to connect to them, you would have access to the same files....

thank you for pointing out the obvious...this thread is on my list of threads to remove as it is just basically a trollish attack against a reputable client..
