For the one who might find some time to look at this (thanks in advance) I have to extent some of the stats I gave yesterday ('cause, I'm not sure whether I posted the 'Bug report' from LW or FW), so I'll post both reports here (surprisingly, this time the reception states "false" whereas yesterday it said 'true') From LW: Detail: Example -- listing session information -- Current thread: AWT-EventQueue-0 Active Threads: 30 Uptime: 1:15 Is Connected: false Number of Ultrapeer -> Ultrapeer Connections: 0 Number of Ultrapeer -> Leaf Connections: 0 Number of Leaf -> Ultrapeer Connections: 0 Number of Old Connections: 0 Acting as Ultrapeer: false Acting as Shielded Leaf: false Number of Active Uploads: 0 Number of Queued Uploads: 0 Number of Active Managed Downloads: 0 Number of Active HTTP Downloaders: 0 Number of Waiting Downloads: 16 Received incoming this session: false Number of Shared Files: 0 Guess Capable: false Received Solicited UDP: true SIMPP version: 3 Port Stable: true FWT Capable: true Last Reported Port: 6346 External Port: 6346 IP Pongs Received: 17 -- listing threads -- JmDNS.RecordReaper: 1 HttpClient-ReferenceQueueThread: 1 check for live connection: 1 ConnectionFetcher: 10 NIODispatcher: 1 QueryUnicaster: 1 Java2D Disposer: 1 TimerQueue: 1 Thread-8: 1 MulticastService: 1 Acceptor: 1 HttpClient-IdleConnectionThread: 1 AWT-Shutdown: 1 AWT-Windows: 1 AWT-EventQueue-0: 1 Timer-0: 1 QRPPropagator: 1 DestroyJavaVM: 1 DaapServerThread: 1 HTTPAcceptor: 1 JmDNS.SocketListener: 1 -- listing properties -- MAX_SIM_DOWNLOAD=8 LAST_GWEBCACHE_FETCH_TIME=1143289806661 TOTAL_UPTIME=1250 AVERAGE_UPTIME=1250 INSTALLED=true CONNECTION_SPEED=350 LANGUAGE=en COUNTRY= CLIENT_ID=63CF9D1AF985D99B761CBB04D7DBDB00 LAST_EXPIRE_TIME=1143289772372 RUN_ON_STARTUP=false From FW: Detail: Example -- listing session information -- Current thread: AWT-EventQueue-0 Active Threads: 28 Uptime: 1:17 Is Connected: false Number of Ultrapeer -> Ultrapeer Connections: 0 Number of Ultrapeer -> Leaf Connections: 0 Number of Leaf -> Ultrapeer Connections: 0 Number of Old Connections: 0 Acting as Ultrapeer: false Acting as Shielded Leaf: false Number of Active Uploads: 0 Number of Queued Uploads: 0 Number of Active Managed Downloads: 0 Number of Active HTTP Downloaders: 0 Number of Waiting Downloads: 16 Received incoming this session: false Number of Shared Files: 0 Guess Capable: false Received Solicited UDP: true SIMPP version: 46 Port Stable: true FWT Capable: true Last Reported Port: 35248 External Port: 35248 IP Pongs Received: 13 -- listing threads -- JmDNS.RecordReaper: 1 MessageDispatch: 1 ConnectionFetcher: 9 NIODispatcher: 1 QueryUnicaster: 1 UDPHostRanker: 1 Java2D Disposer: 1 TimerQueue: 1 Thread-8: 1 MulticastService: 1 Acceptor: 1 AWT-Shutdown: 1 AWT-Windows: 1 AWT-EventQueue-0: 1 Timer-0: 1 QRPPropagator: 1 DestroyJavaVM: 1 DaapServerThread: 1 HTTPAcceptor: 1 JmDNS.SocketListener: 1 -- listing properties -- FILTER_HASH_QUERIES=true APP_HEIGHT=728 FRACTIONAL_UPTIME=0.010327467 LAST_EXPIRE_TIME=1143217059406 SESSIONS=4 LAST_ACCEPTABLE_BUG_VERSION=4.10.10 INCOMPLETE_PURGE_TIME=360 UPDATE_DOWNLOAD_DELAY=10000000 RUN_ONCE=true COUNTRY= MIN_CONNECT_TIME=7 LANGUAGE=en CLIENT_ID=10FFD5A75CD22DE27F6D50656A07D300 LAST_SHUTDOWN_TIME=1143289767284 FREELOADER_FILES=25 FREELOADER_ALLOWED=10 IDLE_CONNECTIONS=2 PORT=35248 TOTAL_UPTIME=8058 AVERAGE_UPTIME=2014 UNSET_FIREWALLED_FROM_CONNECTBACK=true RUN_ON_STARTUP=false UPDATE_GIVEUP_FACTOR=24 FLUSH_DELAY_TIME=256 APP_WIDTH=1024 INSTALLED=true MAX_SIM_DOWNLOAD=8 LAST_GWEBCACHE_FETCH_TIME=1143217154893 CONNECTION_SPEED=350 UPDATE_DELAY=252000020 By the way, I know that LW runs on port 6346 and LW on 35248, however, I've disabled my built-in firewall as well my Peer Guard and any other program except my AVG Anti virus. Oh yeah, and before I forget it, when I collected my bug report from LW, I got the client connection up till 'good connection' (unfortunately only for 45 sec. - 1 min.) but when trying to start one of the waiting downloads it said 'waiting for stable connection'........... Any ideas....?? Mario Last edited by foolofthehill; March 25th, 2006 at 04:46 AM. |

Okay, I know I might become annoying for you, but now something very strange happened. While I was reading myself through the port forwarding and router stuff once again, my FW ( I know that's here the LW forum, but I've got the problem with both) suddenly got a 'excellent connection' without me doing anything, no change on config. or system. I therefore post here now the 'bug report' while the client is running. From FW Detail: Example -- listing session information -- Current thread: AWT-EventQueue-0 Active Threads: 19 Uptime: 54:37 Is Connected: true Number of Ultrapeer -> Ultrapeer Connections: 0 Number of Ultrapeer -> Leaf Connections: 0 Number of Leaf -> Ultrapeer Connections: 3 Number of Old Connections: 0 Acting as Ultrapeer: false Acting as Shielded Leaf: true Number of Active Uploads: 0 Number of Queued Uploads: 0 Number of Active Managed Downloads: 0 Number of Active HTTP Downloaders: 0 Number of Waiting Downloads: 16 Received incoming this session: true Number of Shared Files: 0 Guess Capable: true Received Solicited UDP: true SIMPP version: 46 Port Stable: true FWT Capable: true Last Reported Port: 35248 External Port: 35248 IP Pongs Received: 281 -- listing threads -- JmDNS.RecordReaper: 1 MessageDispatch: 1 NIODispatcher: 1 QueryUnicaster: 1 udp failovers: 1 Java2D Disposer: 1 TimerQueue: 1 Thread-8: 1 MulticastService: 1 Acceptor: 1 AWT-Shutdown: 1 AWT-Windows: 1 AWT-EventQueue-0: 1 Timer-0: 1 QRPPropagator: 1 DestroyJavaVM: 1 DaapServerThread: 1 HTTPAcceptor: 1 JmDNS.SocketListener: 1 -- listing properties -- FILTER_HASH_QUERIES=true APP_HEIGHT=728 FRACTIONAL_UPTIME=0.010327467 LAST_EXPIRE_TIME=1143217059406 SESSIONS=4 LAST_ACCEPTABLE_BUG_VERSION=4.10.10 INCOMPLETE_PURGE_TIME=360 UPDATE_DOWNLOAD_DELAY=10000000 RUN_ONCE=true COUNTRY= MIN_CONNECT_TIME=7 LANGUAGE=en CLIENT_ID=10FFD5A75CD22DE27F6D50656A07D300 LAST_SHUTDOWN_TIME=1143289767284 FREELOADER_FILES=25 EVER_ACCEPTED_INCOMING=true FREELOADER_ALLOWED=10 IDLE_CONNECTIONS=2 PORT=35248 TOTAL_UPTIME=11250 AVERAGE_UPTIME=2812 UNSET_FIREWALLED_FROM_CONNECTBACK=true RUN_ON_STARTUP=false UPDATE_GIVEUP_FACTOR=24 FLUSH_DELAY_TIME=256 APP_WIDTH=1024 INSTALLED=true MAX_SIM_DOWNLOAD=8 LAST_GWEBCACHE_FETCH_TIME=1143217154893 CONNECTION_SPEED=350 UPDATE_DELAY=252000020 Since I suspect the bug (it seems not to be the ISP who blocks the client) to appear again, there might be some clever geek here who can figure out the issue. Cheers Mario I've just shut down FW and tried LW in the hope that it also would connect. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Then going back to FW I got an instant (2-3 sec.) connection stating 'excellent connection'............for now I have to assume that the bug is with LW. Anyone interested in fixing it? Maybe LOTHR?? Hmm, I feel a bit confused, not to say disappointed, by the fact that I haven't gotten any response to my posts from those who usually take on problems of non-geeks like me here in this forum (such as LOTR or Birdy). Of course I do understand that your volunteered time here is limited and you might have your system in dealing with the many requests you get here on a daily basis (Something I actually admire, your handling of the many posts). On the other hand, even guys like 'videoman882' who rather insult you than show respect, receive a response of some kind ( though, no need to responds in such a way, unless I've -unintentionally- overstepped a certain line). My initial problem might appear to be solved for now, since I've managed to connect at least with FW. However, it doesn't change the fact that the occurance of my above described problem (at least with LW) is quite strange considering the fact that it disappeared by itself for FW, yet still exists with LW. So besides attempting to satisfy my curiosity (something I actually thought rests inside you guys as well) how the problem started in the first place, I feel a certain need for finding those answers in case the situation occures again. And of course, others might benefit from this exchange of experience as well. Cheers Mario |

a I've had some time off from the forum due to the forum problems & other reasons. Sorry we have been slow to get back to you. We're normally more prompt in our responses. Yes the 1st bug report was your FW. I guessed that whilst 1st looking at it or suspected it should I say. Bug reports are a little meaningless if the program isn't connected. And unfortunately that seems to be the case for the LW report. What I'd suggest is what you may have or probably already tried. That is deleting your LW preferences. Remember, that if you used an earlier version of LW then your prefs will be in a different location to the later versions. So check both step 2 & 3 here to see if you can locate the LW prefs folder: Fixes for Limewire If you still can't connect, try setting LW to a different port. Try one between these 49152 - 65535 as these are safer to use. Change both the connection & listening port. If you use UPnP setting, then leave the connection port as is. Make any relevant changes in your firewall for this new port & keep 4346 also clear for LW to use. Another option if you haven't already tried it is reinstalling LW. If you have Pro, I presume you still have the installer backed up somewhere. |

I'm just wondering, are you still valid for Pro updates? It might be worth updating to 4.10.9 or the beta 4.11.0 There's also the Java 1.6 beta available if you'd like to try it out. I know it works well for another member of the forums. http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version which is 15.72 MB |

Connection - A success story - please post this to my thread Originally sent by foolofthehill in pm It's about time to announce some success to you guys. Following the advice of LOTR, I finally got LW back on track (I'm crossing my fingers that this will stay that way). So, what did I do?!? First I rebooted my computer. Then I deleted my " .limewire " folder, which is located in the same folder as the 'WINDOWS' folder (and yes, the 'point' in front of the word " limewire " is part of the folder name, though I knew this before, but have seen that others here on the forum do not know). Then I opened Lime Wire and went through the prompts, which will pop up after you've deleted the " .limewire " folder. In those prompts I confirmed ( clicked " Next" ) the chosen language (in my case English), confirmed the connection speed (in my case dsl ), confirmed the folder in which the downloaded files will be stored and shared, un-marked the box when ask about automatic start up (or is it automatic connection ?), confirmed two times the reference to possible firewall pop-ups (though none of them occured at that stage), marked "No" when asked whether I would like to let Lime Wire search my computer for possible files to share, until I reached the final "OK" and then Lime Wire opened. When I saw that it tried to start connecting, I clicked on "file" (located in the upper left corner of the Lime Wire window) and chose "disconnect". I then went to " Tools " (which is located on the same line than " File" - the fifth word from left), clicked on it and chose " Options". On the left side of the opening window I went down until I found the word " Advanced" (actually the last word in the list there). I clicked on it and a new row of words appeared ( the words are : Preferencing, Firewall Config, Proxy, System Startup ). I then clicked on the word " Firewall Config ", which caused the right side of the same window to change its appearance. In the field which says " listen on port " (which is on the upper right of that window) I typed the number "35248" (which matches the number I have already applied to my firewall settings). In the lower part of the same window I made sure that the " Use UPnP (Recommended) " has a green point in front of it. Then I pressed "apply" (which is located in the lower right corner of the same window) and then 'OK' (located on the same line as "Apply" - the third word from right), which caused the window to close. Then I closed Lime Wire again (completely, means also the in the system tray of my computer - on the same line as the clock of my computer). Well, then I opened Lime Wire again and gave it some 5 minutes to try to connect. And now I am connected again - Turbo Charged. The only weired thing is, when writing all this I looked once more on the Firewall Config in Lime Wire and found that the ' listen on port' is back to the number "6346"....... Oh, before I forget it, while doing all of the above, I had my 'Peer Guardian 2' disabled. Now I have enabled it again and do not have any problems with it running. You know, when you write such a long extensive explaination of 'how to do it', then you start to understand and to appreciate the great work that guys like 'Lord Of The Ring", 'Birdy", "et voilà" and all the others here do, on a daily basis, voluntarily. So, thanks pals for being here and sharing your knowledge !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mario |
