Default I only joined up for one post

I think everything you share with the plugin brand "Extensis" anywhere in the file name is a virus. You might want to block the origin.

Default Sorry if you don't like the post

I personally downloaded 2 files looking for plugins and got viruses instead.

I was just passing that on as, maybe, useful information.

IC...welp, since so many ppl seem to think this site actually hosts files, and has the ability to 'block the origin', I mistakenly took you for one of those..

"I think everything you share"..I mean really, who are/is the 'you' you refer to?

in actuality this site has nothing to do with any of the files shared on the gnutella network, and because of the whole nature of the gnutella network, any 'police' actions have to be done by the user...and since hosts have the ability to change IP addresses, experience (or the use of bitzi) is about the only 'solution'

Default Inexperience

Sorry Peerless. I really (you can tell) don't know what I am talking about. I was, more or less, viewing Limewire as, in the middle, not hosting, but having something real high tech like an on/off switch for those offering up viruses for sport or revenge.

My apologies. The brains may be lacking, but the intentions were good.

Could you possibly give me a short explanation of exactly what a bitzi is and where it comes from?

bitzi is a 'service' of its own...said site hosts data on a lot of files found around, not only on gnutella but also KaZaA and eDonkey networks...said 'data' is in the form of reviews/ratings of various files, and said files are not only 'named' but also uniquely identified by their sha1 hash values...being simple, said hash value is like a fingerprint that uniquely identifies files as being themselves'...

to use bitzi, you right click on a search result and choose bitzi...that will take you to the 'review' of the file...

if you are really annoyed about said files you downed, then you can do something about it...first, see if said files are already listed @ bitzi..if not, then download the bitcollider utility, run it on the file, and then report the file(s) for what they are: virus infested POSs, then if someone else wants the files, and has the wisdom to do a bitzi lookup, they will see your negative review of it!
