Hi, I'm new using this program so this is probably just a simple mistake...but why does it keep telling me that i am "working offline"...how can I work offline if I'm on a cable connection...I'm not totally sure how I'm supposed to connect...can someone please help, thanks.

Xolox works offline if you have selected the "work ofline" option in the file menu. Or, Xolox could be unable to connect because of a firewall, proxy, etc.
