Default help! can't connect at all

i'm so bummed!

i'm definitely behind a firewall. and there is a proxy server.

i have instant messengers working with the proxy info - including file xfers.

i can't get connected to xolox at all! i don't think that i can just ask (i'll get in trouble) for information on port# 6346 - is there a way to sniff what ports are open?

is there any way around this problem?

i tried to get limewire to work - no go either, but limewire doesn't work w/ proxies at all.

please help! xolox looks like a well thought out tool, i'm dying to get going! so frustrated!

many many thanks!

You could try using the port that AIM is using for file transfers. Although only one program will have access at a time. (open Xolox first) Still those ports are open, and you already have the info, so that probably what you want to do.

Cool thanks!!

anti-h.

thanks for your reply!!

i'm curious - would that mean that i could use any available port?

the old saw, "any port in a storm" apply here?

i will try your suggestion and report my results in case anyone else is try to solve the same or similar problem.

Exclamation Help can't connect at all

Help I have shareazza and xolox they both won't connect to gnutella. I am pretty sure I am not behind a proxy because there is nothing in the that box under the internet options. Is there anytihng that I can do to help it connect? On xolox the message comes up saying do you want to reconfigure your internet settings, and i checked and I don't have socks I think. I am at college if I do have a proxy how do I find it?

Because you give hosts you are trying to connect to your IP and port numbers, those hosts just simply connect to your computer at that different port. Iv'e personally seen some interesting port numbers out there.

Smoney616: Xolox will ask you to reconfigure its proxy settings if it can not communicate with the rest of the network. This could be caused by something as simple as not being connected to ypur ISP. Some ISPs have been known to interfeare with Gnutella, for instance AOL.
