hostlists Would someone please post their hostlist, i downloaded xolox a week ago and still cant use it because i cant get my list established. |
1 Attachment(s) here... |
A directory is the same as a folder. In the old days with windows v3.11 and MS-Dos they were called Directories not folders. a stupid question to some, but remember, we were all new to computers at one time. I bet If I asked that idiot with the "grey box" comment if they could tell me how to decrypt this file I am working on they would probably be sending thier "grey box" back... HaQue |

OK I'm new to this but am I missing somthing? ----------------------------------------------------------- Work around: Totally close XoloX (also in the taskbar). Download this attachment and place it in your xolox directory. Restart the application. ------------------------------------------------------------ Where do I get the attachmenet to a message posted on a board? Also it worked first time so what has changed since then? Signed Niave |
> Where do I get the attachmenet to a message posted on a board? You find it in your Xolox directory/folder (more details here). Hope it helps, Moak :) |
ok here goes. i am a new user at this. i have just tried sexter and it worked on pics only though. I am connecting from uni but it may also be blocked. Also i am on win 2000 SP2 |
hello? |
? downloading Help I can't download any file........... What's the problem. regards P.S. I can find them (audio files for example) but progress remain 00% |
Finding files and downloading them are 2 seperate things. When a file is found it indicates that a file is hosted on another machine. However, that machine may be busy providing other clients and may have no slots available for your request. Always take a look at the score. The higher the number, the more clients the requested file have, making the change of a fast download (start) higher. XoloX uses download of multiple hosts, so a higher score can also mean a significant faster download speed. When however you download stays at 0%, have patience, it may start whenever a host comes available, XoloX will keep checking the hosts for availability. |
A Fairly New Users View Just wanted to add my few pence worth for all the newbies (I'm just above that now I think) that Xolox works like a charm. Once a file has been selected for download you can forget all about it as Xolox will start or resume (as the case may be) a file as soon as it becomes available from the host. The higher the score the better the chance of a download, you just need to be patient sometimes. To everyone involved in Xolox... WELL DONE.. a great program, I use it every time now. :D |
Still problems? Hi, for some new users it might be too difficult to download a fresh hostslist, so lets try this: Start Xolox and go into Menu -> Tools -> Preferences Then enter 'Gnutellahost': public.bearshare.net 'port' goes into next input box: 6436 Click "Add ", you'll see a message "New host added", close the preferences and wait a minute. Does it help? You can do this whenever you have a connect error. PS: here are more hosts caches. Enter name and port as above, do not enter the ':' (it's only a seperator): connect1.gnutellanet.com:6346 connect2.gnutellanet.com:6346 connect3.gnutellanet.com:6346 connect4.gnutellanet.com:6346 gnutella.hostscache.com:6346 gnotella.fileflash.com:6346 router.limewire.com:6346 gnutella.hostscache.com:6346 gnet2.ath.cx:6346 PS: some more links http://www.gnutella.co.uk/servers/ (current host caches list) http://gnutellaforums.com/showthread...t=hex+AND+edit |

ive downloaded the new hostlist and xolox worked perfectly for like 2 days and now its giving the network connection error thing again. WTF!!! i really like xolox but im sick of it never working... |
I am not sure what you mean...put this file in you XoloX directory. Can you help? |
I set up Xolox Sunday...it's been working like a dog for me! I've not had one bit of problem. I think there may be more of an OS problem than a prob with xolox. |
Re: my working list Quote:
costa - I have the same problem... It helps when u turn off your virusscanner-thats the ******* what makes your xolox freeze--it's risky...but hey--if u wanna download u gotta risk! |
hostlist thanks. it took me a while to work out exactly how to do it but i think it's working fine now |
hostlist 1 Attachment(s) thanks every1 who makes the hostlists where would we be witout you :p |
xolox freezing My xolox freezes sometimes , and causes my entire internet connection to freez. does any one know what causes this and how to avoid this? |
Those hostslists don't work at all. It keeps sayng: can't connect to network..!! could enybody post a working hostslist.txt??? thanks a lot!!! |
hi, i tryed to change some network settings. now i can't use xolox anymore cause i am not able to rechange the settings i have made. i played with the proxy stuff. Ralf |
Hostlist.txt format The format appears to be 4 pairs of letters (one for each IP section) , colon, port number, and white space. The letters in the IP address are: 0 - 2 1 - 3 2 - 8 3 - 9 4 - : 5 - ; 6 - < 7 - = 8 - > 9 - ? 10 - H 11 - I 12 - K 13 - L 14 - M 15 - O The order I can't verify, but assuming ASCII ordering and significant value first, something like =888H=I= may become (7*16 + 2).(2*16 + 2).(10*16+7).(11*16+7) which is 114.34.167.183 We'd have to do some more verification to realy get it... |
If you changed some settings you could go to the windows registry and remove the xolox key. Not this is at your own risk and make a backup of your registry before modifying it. This should think XoloX is started up for the first time and it will try to do the automatic config for you, including the proxy settings. |
@mvoosten thanks for the tip, but i am using Xolox on an pc where i did not have any admin rights, so i am not able to change any regitry settings. isn't there a hotkey or something like taht? Ralf i am from germany pleas excuse my english. |
doesn't work i don't understand how to do it. I guess no one else does either if it doesn't work. I hope you figure it out soon. thanx |

doesn't work I've downloaded every hotlist in this thread and tried every one but still no luck. I keep getting the "can't connect to network" error. Any ideas? BTW, I'm using Win XP if that makes a difference. odd1 |
Try This NOw I don't know if this was just by chance but I tried it ouple of times and it works all the time. When the "Can't connect to network comes up just clik on the search space and enter what ever you are searching for and hit go ...it automatically starts working finew and the status says Network ok. I guess its some kind of a bug for first time usres. Although I have to say it is a nice and small application but you can get a lot more speed through Morpheus. But then again thats just my opinion |
Now I know the answer!!!Read it To make your "can't connect to network" message dissapear do this: Download fresh hostslist to your xolox directory and run xolox.exe, than go to preferenses and type a new gnutella host: gnotella.fileflash.com port 6346 after that WAIT until connection will be OK, it may take a few minutes but it really works!!! I hope it'll help!!! |

xolox ALWAYS works Hi all! I often get "can't conect" thing. And after clicking "Ignore" xolox works as usual. Maybe there is performance loss, which I did not notice because of my 33,6 modem. Also, due to personal dumbness, I've replaced hostlist with human readable IP list (i forgot to look inside before:), so probably xolox couldn't read it. But it worked anyway! I've replaced it back and noticed only some growth of search speed, downolad speed is not affected (it's always veeeeeeery slow:). So I don't undestand what is this topic about. Xolox is simpliest and most stable windows program i've ever seen. I dream it, running as a daemon on my unixbox (which has much better connection). synchronously xKO |
why are the IPs encrypted in the hostlist? Everyone on the P2P network needs a good hostlist. Why in the world wouldn't the hostlist be human readable? I thought P2P was about sharing.. Maintaining your list in some cryptic fashion is stupid to say the least.. |
