What is the hostslist for?

This question has allready answered by Seeker at the beginning of this thread (see the first page - click on the "1" on the top of the page now). The "Add host" feature does currently not work correct, but it's function is allready described in another thread ...and now also there.

HTTP P2P

Hello All,
Xolox doesn't work for me as well, even after I used the host file. I suppose my network configuration doesn't allow me to use a network without HTTP/FTP proxy. Kazaa doesn't work either. Does anybody know how to configure Xolox to make it connect and/or any other program that is working entirely through HTTP.

Thank you.

Hi Pasman,

It did work very good, after 2 days:"Network connection error". tried everything but still nothing. What next?

Re: HTTP P2P

Use a Socks proxy if available or try tunneling Socks through HTTP? Many companies/schools restrict firewall traversals to http requests only. Socks2HTTP provides a SOCKS server, tunneling connections through a existing HTTP proxy (e.g. squid). This tunelling definitely is more geek stuff (and maybe forbidden in your place due to heavy traffic or possible copyright violations in P2P). Feel free to try (and plz give a feedback):

Hope it helps, Moak

Network Connections ( I think...)

You guys are talking about things waaaay over my poor old head, but...
I keep getting a popup in the main screen that asks if I want to reconfigure my network connection.

Doh?

I'm on a DSL modem via USB. When I signed up, I chose LAN as my connection.

Did Da' Kid screw up?

Should I have selected "connected to the computer via a modem"?

Do I have to sacrifice a sheep?

Da' *** Gon' On Here?

All replies gratefully accepted.

Me.

Does not work?

Still problems to connect + the update of the hostlists does not work.... ?

Make sure you are using Xolox V1.12 and using a new hostslist.txt!
Hmm, maybe this helps: Follow this thread

Success!

Thank you, Moak. It worked like a charm.... apparently I had a corrupted or incorrect hostsfile but as soon as I wiped it and installed yours the program loaded all hosts and is chugging along quite happily.

Quite a nice program, incidentally....
my compliments to the chef(s).
