Hi to all die-hard Xolox users,
Does anyone know enough about internet security to determine which incoming requests should be allowed by a firewall (Zone Alarm, in my case) to share files? The default Internet Zone Custom Settings only allow outgoing DHCP. Is this sufficient to share files? Since I'm allowing Xolox to connect to the net AND act as a server, is everything allowed through that needs to get through? How about incoming pings from ICMP, ICMP Echo, IGMP; should I open certain TCP & UDP ports? If so, which ones? 6346 is a common file-sharing port isnt it? When I use BlackIce firewall as well, many requests seem harmless, so I'm wondering whether I've optimized my p2p connection. I want to share my files with anyone who ISN'T tring to cause damage to my machine. Thanks. |
