How to delete messages that reach me in Facebook 10?

I know how to delete those that I send, but not the oes I get in reply.

Thank you beforehand for setting me on the right track, as I have earned a headache from vain and futile attempts over a long stretch of hours that did not solve the problem for me.

What do you mean by "Facebook 10"?

You can delete both messenger and inbox items via the 3 dots drop-down menu. For Facebook Messenger the option is Remove. For inbox the option is Delete. So it's the same as deleting your own comments or messages. Just select the three dot drop-down menu nearest each one.
