Vanished desktop icons

A desktop icon in Windows 10 has vanished. How to retrieve it?

Hopefully a small reminder of your previous question on the topic. Though this is an issue you have had for several years.

I have seen the suggestion a simple reboot of the computer might bring back missing icons.
You can also re-build icon cache. Another option is System Restore.

If all of your desktop icons are missing, they've probably been hidden accidentally. Right-click empty space on your desktop, go to "View," then make sure "Show Desktop Icons" is enabled.

Are you using a Laptop computer?

How to retrieve vanished desktop icons in Windows 10? Have tried VIEW > SHOW DESKTOP ICONS (checked) but to no avail. Could not find the vanished icons in the Recycle Bin either.

Also, did that icon utility I pointed you to some time ago work at all? If you did install it, check the options for showing icons.
