LimeWire Pro stopped working on Mac

Since my last Mac update my LimeWire Pro program keeps shutting down after starting up. It initially gets a good connection then when I try to do a search or ue any part of the program it shuts off. I allowed sharing on port 6346 and enabled UDP communication on my firewall but the program still doesn't work. What's the fix?

Might have been better to post in the mac section. Try deleting your LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed. It doesn't sound like a connection problem from the brief details you have supplied. Also, do a safe boot & repair permissions. Could also try Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link)

Also after deleting LW prefs folder, open LW & go to the preferences settings & under Advanced > Performance, disable all options on that page.

BTW if you upgraded from basic to Pro, it's usually recommended to delete your LW prefs folder, otherwise Pro sometimes behaves oddly.

This sh** is way over my head......I am so confused now its not even funny..I dont know if it's my ISP doing it or what? I get my internet from a small company and its on no "list" or anything same with the modems. I have tried using different "ports" and its STILL behind a firewall, I have tried to get it passed windows firewall but even with the firewall OFF I still get limewire saying that its behind a bloody firewall. I have NO clue anymore what the heck I am doing and back when I was using ARES I could download full length movies and a few hour's and with this my speed is ......LOL...0 kb/s .....WHAT THE HECK!......I am at my wits end here...and about to toss the intire thing in the garbage......This sucks...I would wrather be intertained by twidling my thumbs then be this confused at something that seems like it should be......."Simple" .....UUGGHAAAA!:pissed:

And right now I am only trying to download ONE file...

Update........Hmm I just downloaded ARES again and tested it out....it works WONDERFULLY! and FAST!.......I sure wish my Lamewire could do that:(

I used to have the same problem until my Windows XP shut down (-the warning on a blue page-) practically everyday. I decided to restore things as when I bought my computer. It was bought with Norton antivirus pre-installed in it. Because I don't use Norton I got rid of it completely and installed another antivirus software. I disabled Windows firewall and use my antivirus firewall. LW is among the programs my antivirus allows and everything is working fine. So make sure there's no antivirus software that had been running in your computer, that you thought you got rid of completely but which is still running in the background. Also if you use a router make sure that it's not blocking LW.

Question from someone not really computer literate. We have used Limewire Free for 18 months or so without problems. Recently upgraded to Limewire 4.18.3 free edition and cannot get rid of firewall so cannot download. We have anti virus AVG Free 7.5 and OS is Windows ME on dial up modem. Is there a way to get around firewall, connect and download? Thanks.

The Later versions are nothing but Trouble.
I will suggest, you use an older version that has proved to be the most stable versions ever. 4.12.6. or 4.12.3

OldVersion - Newer isn't always better !

Or try Phex. In my Sig

1. Go to command prompt and type in ipconfig - Private IP
2. Go to D-Link website where I set up the forwarding
3. Add Private IP in Local IP
4. In both Start Port and End Port, it will be 6346
5. Protocol will be both
6.CLick enabled and apply
7. Go to Limewire and then Firewall
8. Click on Force IP and Port will be 6346 and apply it

Is that all I have to do? Now I should see huge increase in downloading speed right? Remember I have ultra fast connection, 5 Mbps= 500 KB per sec and more than 300 upload. When I download from any sever except for peer to peer network, I could download at full speed. But before this I could only download less than 20 KB per sec most of the time IN Limwire. So if I am downloading from cable user and it is good connection, I should go over 100 KB downloading speed most of the time right?

Waiting for your respond Lord Of The Ring

hey while i was doing this on the final part after filling out the stuff in the router settings i says not enough space t add this entry. what do i do???
