A rar file is a compressed archive format somewhat like zip, except you'll need alternative utilities such as winrar or Aladdin StuffIt Expander for windows to open it. There might also be some others.

Thank you...I thought it sounded familiar as a professor of one of my classes gave us options of which type of zip file to use...i pick winzip. I guess if i want to see this file i'll need to make some adjustments.

I'm a mac user so I'm not sure whether winrar is a shareware or what, but StuffIt Expander is free & you can open it with that. But I think they've combined expander with stuffit so you'd only be able to stuff a small no. of files as a shareware. But it should be fine for opening files such as rar. http://www.stuffit.com/win/expander/index.html
