The only 'problem' you may have will possibly be a change from a 'static' IP to a 'dynamic' IP... As far as filesharing is concerned the only possible 'negative' aspect of having a dynamic IP (i.e. one that is different each time you connect to your ISP) would be in relation to your UpLoads... Users who are attempting to initiate DownLoads from you (perhaps some time after they made their 'search', during which you had disconnected and then returned, or they are trying to continue with incomplete D/Ls from you) will probably see a message that there is no 'push-route' available and they will need to either do a new search or request more 'sources'... Then your file will appear again with your 'current' IP... For all other functions having a dynamic IP will not cause you any problems...

cable connections rarely get new ip addresses cable connections rarely get new ip addresses, i have also seen posts that compare dsl to cable in that the connect is slower depending upon distance from the server. this is not true, cable runs fiber optic cable to your neigbor hood then when it reaches a node it converts the digital signals carried by fiber optic cables to rf that runs through cable lines. you could never carry the forward or reverse signals any distances more than lets say 1000 feet without forward and reverse amps. anyone not seeing the correct speeds with a cbale connection may have cable signal issues signed, a cable tech |
