I downloaded some movies, and burned them via my toshiba laptops software, not sure what it is but I was able to do it via sonic record!
everything was fine, until I stuck it in my Sony DVP-NS300 player.. I get "NO DISK" I've check the availability via several sites on the internet and all have said that this particular DVD player does play DVD+RW's I have Imitation 4.7GB DVD+RW 4x Not sure much of anything on this, so please put in Laymens terms ![]() Could it be the DVD"s? are they cheap? I don't know anything about all this, I just went to the store and was overwhelmed by the choices, so I picked one... Since I have learned a LITTLE more but not enough to fix this.. Any help is much appreciated Thanks in advance! |

Hmm Good question, I haven't tried that, I played the file itself on Quicktime and it worked, I am going to try to play the DVD now...

YES, it played on RealPlayer, but I also have WinDVD and it wouldn't play on that, gave me an error: "This file, does not have a valid dvd format"

Peerless,
Thanks so much for that link, honestly I have already been to that site, and to me a newbie, its very overwhelming, I don't even know where to look.. Do you have any ideas or places to point to? Thanks |

Just off-hand after a quick look-over this thread, sounds like the format is not being burnt or selected correctly. A movie dvd needs to be in UDF format. Programs like nero & roxio will do this for you if you choose video format & choose dvd as output. The fact you can play it in your computer but not set-top player suggests it's not in the appropriate UDF format. Also don't burn it too fast! Choose a lower speed.
The other thing is your set-top player. Some don't play dvd-r's & some of the better known ones (I know panasonic to be one such one) will only play their own brand dvd-r's. So I'd check your manual or/& go to their support site to find out which dvd-r's they recommend. |
