firewire how shou;d it be conf.

:D well i am long time user,but don't really know how to configure my fire wire to optimize my down load upload performance. it seem as if i can no longer upload my files. i have a mac g4 running 1.4 mhz. on osx 10.4.2. 1.5 g. ram and dsl sbc yahoo. ido not have a probble connecting i just want to optimize my performance.
