Default avi to dvd :)

ok so if you have some files on your computer that you wish to convert in to dvd ( avi / xvid / divx / svcd / vcd ) ect ect then i hope this little guide is of some help to you

first your going to need 2 programs (both can be found of fw)

1. WinAVI video converter
2. Nero

once you have them and they are all set up
open up WinAVI ( if you get something about a codec example.... quick time ....dont worry about it
just click on ok or next )
once the program is open click on ( DVD )
select the file you wish to open along with where you wish to save the output files that your going to make
click ok or next
now after a few seconds you should see the next step ( a box that should say winavi on the left side and then show the file converting on the right this is all there is to it and to convert to a dvd from avi & divx & svcd & vcd along with other formats should take no longer then 20 - 40 mins max
once it is done load up nero

in nero start smart select ( burn dvd video files )
add the dvd files you have just made ( everything from the VIDEO_TS ) file
now guide your way to burn and your good to go

also you could try DVD santa if you dont like nero
------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope this was of some help

Hi, I just tried your instructions ang after downloading the winavi and i even downloaded the xp codec pack also , then it was converted perfectly as it now plays in my wmp , however after i try to drag and drop it into my nero 6 i get a message saying ...
no compatible file found ...
Can you tell me, is the file sinmply changing format and staying in the same locatin or does it re-save the file to another destination on my pc?
Is there something I am missing here ? maybe I am trying the wrong way of adding the file to nero?
Bradley

when you open up winavi and click on dvd then select your file and hit open you should see an option that says select output directory .... this is where your converted dvd will be
then you open up nero and select burn dvd video files

(select nero express)
then click on add .. add the dvd files ... click on next then hit burn

I might be remembering wrong, but doesn't Nero 6 have a program called NeroVision or NeroVisionExpress. If it does then you can convert to DVD and burn it at the same time.

Just choose add videofile

Another program that will do the job, this is the last freeware version of it. Only catch is there is no menu system on the completed DVD, it just plays when you bung it into a DVD player.

The newer version you pay for adds a menu structure.

If you buy the version, the "nag" will not appear again.
