Hi,
Two programmes which are good at this are PC Inspector File Recovery and Tune up Utilities has a file recovery section. There may be free programmes but I don't have any knowledge on those.
Hope this helps.

I had problems with PC Inspector (never recovered anything of value), but used Directory Snoop Briggs Softworks: Directory Snoop - File Recovery and Wiping Software for Windows, which has a trial period, to recover otherwise lost data. Good Luck.

Luckily PC Inspector helped me recover nearly all of my D drive, was REALLY %%%%%% off when I deleted that by mistake!!
Also luckily, I hadn't done any 'Running time ' or work on that drive before recovery, when you get nothing of value, you tend to find it's been overwritten, trick is to do NOTHING until files are recovered.
