First of all do not use Windows Media Player to play Video files, huge mistake, monumental.
Download GOM Player, it can play (just about) every single file format out there, and a whole lot of preferences to mess around with. http://www.filehippo.com/download_gom_player/
The reason you might not get any video image is because you might not have the correct codec for the video file.
